The Caterpillar Cat 345D is a discontinued older‑generation model. According to public specifications, its production period was approximately from 2008 to 2011. Consequently, nearly all 345D units circulating in the current market are used equipment. If any seller claims to supply "brand‑new original Cat 345D", you are strongly advised to carefully verify the machine’s manufacture year, serial number, equipment source and relevant certification documents.
In the subsequent product iteration, Caterpillar launched large‑size hydraulic excavators including the 349D and 349D2. It should be noted that the 345D and 349D fall within a similar tonnage range. Therefore, it cannot be simply concluded that "the 349D fully replaced the 345D". 349D machines manufactured around 2019 can still be found on‑market. Official Caterpillar discontinuation documentation shall be required as supporting evidence if needed.
For the new‑equipment market, the Cat 345 GC is an important new‑generation model in Caterpillar’s 45‑ton class. Official Caterpillar product literature explicitly compares the performance and cost‑efficiency of the Cat 345 GC against the 349D2 Tier 3.
